BLUE AND GREEN BABY QUILT

I finished the quilt for Julia's dancing teacher and I LOVE IT!!!!!  I don't want to give it away.  This is the first time I've done free motion quilting and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.  I really enjoyed doing this type of quilting compared to straight line quilting, no stopping and starting all the time just non stop quilting and it didn't take very long to do either.

Here it is.  The photos aren't the best it was a horrible rainy day today.

( The front)

(and the back)

I really enjoyed working on this and I will definately be making more of these baby quilts.

A big thank you to Julia for holding up the quilt for the photos.  Being a cloudy day today I had to take alot of photos to finally get a good one and her poor little arms were hurting after holding it for so long.  I think she deserves a chocolate after her hard work.

Have a great weekend.

GONE QUILTING

I finally got the courage to do the free motion quilting on the baby quilt I spoke about in my last post.  They say practice makes perfect and that's what I have been doing for the last week and it has paid off.  This is my progress so far and I'm pretty happy with the result.

So for now I've gone quilting and I'll be back soon with a finished quilt.
Have a great week.

BABY QUILT TOP

The quilt top for baby Sebastian is finished.  I love how it turned out and how well the fabrics all go together.  It was a really quick and easy quilt to sew and I love how the fabrics stand out on the grey background.  I was going to use white as the background but the fabrics just didn't look right, I'm happy I went with the grey.  I have decided I'm going to get out of my comfort zone of straight line quilting and give stippling a go.  Stippling is an all over squiggly, swirly type pattern.  I'm going to have to do some practicing before I work on the real thing so for the next few days I will be practicing and hopefully I master the technique.  Be back with a finished quilt soon.

Have a great week.

YES I'M STILL ALIVE

Hi everyone time has flown by so quickly.  I hope you are all well.  I will be around to visit your blogs soon and thanks to the lovely girls who emailed me to check if I was ok.  Yes I'm fine I've just been very very busy sewing, renovating and spending time with the family.

Just want to share a few things that have been happening around here the last few months.

The renovations are still going.  Finally the study is finished.  We still have to furnish it but that has to wait for a while because I will be moving my bed in there while my bedroom is being renovated.  I will post photos when it's all finished.

The kids now have their own bedrooms.  Jarrod's bedroom is not finished it needs to be painted and the floorboards need to be replaced to match the rest of the baltic pine in the house.  That will be done after my bedroom is finished.

Julia's bedroom is finished well sort of.  I still have to paint her dresser and sew some cushions and decorate it.

Anyone recognise the fabric in the curtain? That's the Cabbage Roses fabric that most of us all bought and used a few years ago.  I bought several metres back then and put it away, I'm so glad I did as I love how it turned out.  Her bedroom was our old dining room that had a brick fireplace in it.  We wanted to keep that feature in the house so we installed a cast iron fireplace and timber mantle.  I'm pretty happy with how it looks.

I'm hoping by Christmas the inside will be all finished.  Fingers crossed.

Jarrod had his Confirmation a few weeks ago.  We had a small party for him at home.  46 kids got confirmed on the night and the church was packed and noisy.  We couldn't see or hear much but it went well and the kids enjoyed themselves.  Here he is with his mates outside the church.  That's him on the end with the striped shirt.

Now that all my custom orders are finished I can get back to my usual sewing.  At the moment I am playing with these fabrics.

I'm making a baby quilt for Julia's dancing teacher who had a gorgeous baby boy a few weeks ago.  Just two more rows to sew on and I'll post some photos hopefully tomorrow.

Have a great week.

BUSY BUSY

Hi everyone just popped in to say HELLO!!!!  It has been so long since my last post, where has the time gone.  I've been busy with the family and working on a few orders and presents, and of course buying more fabric.........naughty me.

Thanks for all the comments about Julia's finger.  Her nail is fully grown and her finger is still a bit swollen looking but the doctors said it's all good.

Got the results for the Colonoscopy I had weeks ago it's all clear nothing wrong with me.

I had my 6 week weigh in and I lost 3kg so in total I have lost 9kg to date (16 weeks).  I feel so much better and I'm motivated to lose more.

And yes it's that time of year again..........."I'm bored"...........who invented school holidays!!!!

Have a great week.

I LOVE FABRIC

I love fabric and I have way too much and I shouldn't be buying anymore but I couldn't help myself.  I bought a kit to make this gorgeous quilt.  When I saw this quilt I fell in love and had to have the fabrics.  I will make it one day after I have finished all the other projects on my list.

Had a busy weekend it was Jarrod's birthday on Saturday he turned 11.  He invited a few friends over and they wanted KFC and pizza's.......yummy........there goes the diet again.

and speaking of diets.  I forgot to post about my weight loss after my 6 week check a few weeks ago.  Maybe because I wasn't that excited about it I didn't lose anything.  Well I lost half a kilo which is nothing to brag about.  Too much eating while we were away on holiday but at least I didn't put anything on.  I have dropped a dress size which I'm happy about and I feel alot better and have bought myself some new clothes.  I've been really good the last few weeks so fingers crossed I have a good result next weigh in.

The quilt I posted about in the previous post is now at the quilters  and I started on some orders.  One down........

Friday is my hubby's birthday we are going out for dinner.............oh no more food!!!!

And I forgot to post about Julia's birthday.  She was upset with me that I didn't post about her birthday so here she is.  Her birthday was January 14 and she turned 9 years old.  We celebrated while we were at the beach house.

Ok back to more sewing.  Have a great weekend.

MY BABY IS BACK AND HOLIDAY PHOTOS

I finally got my baby back.  She is all fixed and has been working overtime.  Now I can visit all your blogs again.

I'm late posting about our holiday but with no computer I have a good excuse.

We have a beach house in Rye and from Christmas to the end of January almost every man and his dog are on holiday along the peninsula it's a great time to be there.  We went up a few days after New Years day and stayed a few weeks.  We had great weather and spent alot of time at the beach and had lots of breakfasts, lunches and dinners at the cafes in Sorrento, Rye and Rosebud.  Not good for my diet.  Here are a few photos.  I'm not in many photos I was the photographer.

Walking along the pier

We had a great time but we also had some dramas.  Julia got her little finger squashed in a foor at the Rosebud Plaza.  It was cut open so we had to call the ambulance and we ended up at the emergency department at the Frankston hospital.  They told us that it was broken and badly cut and that she needed surgery.  So a few days later we went back to the hospital and she had the surgery done.  It all went well and her finger is starting to look normal.  She will lose her old nail but a new one will grow back in a few months.  Here is a photo with her bandage a week after her surgery.

We also went strawberry picking at Sunnyridge Farm and visited the Maze but I forgot to take the camera with me.

Now it's back to routine again.  I have a few orders to do that I got before christmas so I have been busy with those and also making this quilt for my good friend and neighbour.  She has helped me so much with looking after my kids and does so much for me.  I'm going to give this quilt to her for her birthday in March.

Here it is on my design wall before piecing

Here it is after I've pieced it with the sashings

These are not fabrics I normally work with but I love them and they remind me of the sea.  They are called Daisy Chain by Amy Bulter.  She designs gorgeous fabrics.  This quilt will match perfectly in my friends house.

I just have to make the back and then it's off to the quilters to be professionally quilted.  I've decided not to waste time quilting big quilts as I hate the process of basting and quilting.  Baby quilts are ok but after tackling the large one I made for her daughter I decided I was not going to do it again and that way I have more time to sew.

As I sit here typing up this post I have been drinking this disgusting drink that you have to take before having a colonoscopy which I'm having done tomorrow morning.  If you have ever had one done you will know what I'm talking about and if you haven't the drinks are disgusting and I don't want to have them again.........Blah!!!!

Hope you are having a great weekend.  Hope to visit you all soon.

Hi everyone we are back from our holiday and back to the everyday routine now that the kids are back at school.  My main computer has died again and is in for repairs so I can't do a post with photos.  Hopefully I will get my computer back next week and I'll post photos of our holiday and other stuff I have been up to.  I'm using the laptop which is so slow compared to my computer so I will try and get around to visiting all your blogs soon.

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR

Merry Christmas  everyone.  What a great day we had.  We talked, opened presents, ate, relaxed, ate again and played with the pressies.  The kids loved all the presents they got.  It's kept them very busy and quiet.  Sorry no photos I'm still waiting on my brother to send them to me.  So this one will have to do.

New Years Eve was spent at home on the couch I was too sick to go out (story below) and the kids and hubby played all the games they got for Christmas.  Scrabble, Monopoly and Cluedo they had a great time.  At 12.00 we went outside to watch the fireworks that were in our street.  I hope you all had a happy and safe one.

We were supposed to go away to the beach house for a few weeks but I came down with a virus the Sunday after Christmas and by Wednesday I felt like I'd been hit by a bus so I went to see the doctor who informed me that I had a chest and throat infection.  I got some drugs which really didn't help that much I'm still feeling pretty crappy so I went to see him again today and he has given me another course to take.  It has really knocked me out.  I have just been spending my days on the couch and not doing much else I haven't had the energy.  My hubby said I must be pretty sick to not even get onto the computer.............lol he knows me well.

As soon as I feel better we will go to the beach house it will be great for the kids to get out of the house and we are going to have some great beach weather this week.

I'll be around to visit your blogs soon.  It feels like I have been away for months.

Take care.
