wow it's been so long

It's been so long since I last posted.  I have been busy with family stuff and doing a few custom orders it's been hard to get onto the computer and blog.

I created an Antique Rose Designs facebook page so you can go onto there to see what I have been up to.

Not sure if something has changed on blogger but I can't insert a photo it won't let me select from my pictures.  Am I doing something wrong or is there another way.  If anyone can help that would be great.

(Edited ~ it's working now)

AVA baby quilt

I finished the custom order baby quilt.  I'm really happy with how it turned out the fabrics go so well together.  I especially love those cute little birdies and the owls make me laugh they look stunned.  Maybe it's that bright yellow fabric.

And that little piece of fabric that I was waiting for to use in this quilt.  It arrived yesterday.  Oh well I'll add that to my stash.

Ok onto my next custom order.  I've got a few at the moment keeping me busy.

Have a great week.

SICK OF WAITING

I checked my post box again today and still no fabric.  Anyway I couldn't wait any longer my customer needs the quilt by the end of August so I found a fabric in my stash that matched perfectly with all the other fabrics and I whipped up the quilt on the weekend.  So cute and girly.  Just need to quilt it and then it will be on it's way to Queensland.

Have a great week.

WAITING, WAITING, WAITING

Well I should be sewing a baby quilt but I am waiting on one piece of fabric that I need for the quilt.

What is it with the US mail system.  I received a parcel of fabric in 10 days but 1 small piece of fabric still hasn't arrived after 4 weeks.  Anyway I'll keep waiting and hopefully it will turn up soon.

While I have been waiting I found some cute pincushions in this flicker group here and decided to make one.  I loved it so much I decided to make a big cushion for Julia's bedroom.

I'm really happy with how they turned out and the tutorial was very easy to follow.

Look at the size difference.............sooooo cute!!!!

Julia loves it and it now sits on her bed between her two favourite 1 Direction cushions.

Have a great day.

Cushions

I have been very busy sewing custom orders it has kept me away from the computer.  Which is probably a good thing.  When I get on I'm on for hours.

First up a personalised name cushion.

And these very very cute Minnie Mouse cushions.

Next on the list is a Minnie Mouse quilt to match the above cushions and then a cute baby quilt with little birdies and owls.  Ok back to the sewing room.

Have a great weekend.

Cherry Pie..........delicious!!!!!

Finally finished the Cherry Pie quilt.  I think we did a great job.  9 year old Mia sewed all the blocks with the white around them and I sewed them all together and quilted it.

Pinwheels with a twist

My hubby finally finished painting Julia's furniture so I have been busy sewing decor for her room.  I made her some placemats to put on her side tables so they don't get scratched.  Wouldn't want to ruin them after all the work my hubby put into sanding them back and painting them.

Julia isn't into shabby chic decor anymore she likes red, pink and blue at the moment.  I went through my stash and found some gorgeous fabrics that go well together.  Here is one of the placemats, it just needs to be quilted.

Click on the photo to get a closer view

I'm making another one to match and I will make her a nice big quilt to go on her bed.  Hopefully that will be something I can get done before the end of the year.  I have a few orders to get done first.

I love pinwheels and I thought I'd try something different with them.  This topper measures 40cm x 40cm and took me 3 hours to make..........yes 3 hours!!!!   Doesn't look like it but I timed myself and I didn't realise how long it takes with all the cutting and sewing and cutting and sewing.  Even though it took so long I'm really happy with it.

I just had a thought.  3 hours for this small piece, omg imagine how long it will take to make a quilt to cover a double bed.  I better get cracking.

For anyone that is interested I'm selling a few of my fabrics very cheap as I have way too many and I'll never be able to use them all.  Check out my Etsy store.

Have a great week.
