This is a quilt I'm making for myself. It is my own original design and I have called it Polka Dot Pinwheels. I love red and white polka dots so I made the fabric the feature in this quilt and the blue and pink match perfectly. I just need to make the back and quilt it.
I went to the Melbourne Quilt Convention a few months ago and saw a demonstration on making hexagons. I had a go and I was hooked. I'm making the hexagons using a quicker and easier method than the traditional way (see my tutorial in previous post). I wanted the quilt to have the traditional vintage style look to it so I bought some 1930's reproduction fabrics and here is what I've made so far. 10 down and 10 more to go.
And just because I don't have enough to do I decided to start on another quilt.
I've had this fabric by French General in my stash for a few years now. I've been wanting to make a large king size quilt and pillow shams for my bed using this fabric but I just couldn't come up with the right design. Then one day the design came to me and I had to cut into the fabric right away before I forgot about it. I'm hoping that it turns out the way I have pictured it in my head. I love the mix of cream, beige and red fabrics. Just perfect for a vintage french style look.
Not much sewing has been done over the last 2 weeks. I have been sick with bronchitis and having some much needed rest. I hate sitting around on the couch doing nothing so I have been working on another project which I will post about when I get a chance to take some photos.
Have a great weekend and stay warm.
